Here is exactly what Porter with his fantastic father and trainer, Kenny Porter, needed to say through the Porter Hy-Performance Center:
“Every time I see this fight within my head, I feel good about this. I feel like my speed and my boxing ability normally takes care of the initial half of this fight. Once we progress and establish the pace with the fight, which can be what we are going to do, and then, we’ll activate in our feints, our head movement, it’s destined to be beautiful. I know a whole lot of.
“I think my coaches keep me on the peak. My dad keeps me where I need to be. A big part products we work with is the focus and mentality approaching the struggle, at the same time. I feel like where other guys lack, I have everything. We’re in better condition than most guys. And we develop the mental fortitude approximately we do around the physical.
“I think when opportunities in this way come up, this is when I really progress. For me, nothing is better than fight night. Everything prior to it is just part on the process. I can tell you that at the moment, we’re talking the battle, I’m excited and I want it to be.”
KENNY PORTER, Shawn’s Father & Trainer
“I think we’ve got the right sparring partners. We’ve had Brandon Adams, that’s like a bigger version of Shawn, in here. He does a fantastic job of emulating Berto.
“We also will have Hank Lundy in. Lundy is often a guy that’s bringing speed, quickness, power plus an attitude if he or she spar. He’s saying items to Shawn, popping off at Shawn, and when Shawn lands an excellent punch on him, he’s coming right back. And we’re using Mickey Bey about the back end of the sparring sessions. It’s doing exercises pretty good. We’re looking to push Shawn very hard.
“We’re never satisfied about anything. My thing is a bit more than anything, is we’re asking him to complete the things we’ve worked and practiced and put everthing together therefore we can take that to another fight and the next camp rather then starting over and restarting. It’s uniting, and now we’re liking what we’re seeing.
“Never satisfied, but I would want to see him out-box him, out-punch him, out-hustle him, then I want to see him punish him. That would be the final scenario. You do these things we done, you then punish him.”
